Read: Mark 16:1-8

“It’s alive!” someone screams.
That line is part of many horror movies. Why? Because nothing is more terrifying than life where it is not expected.
The women went that Easter morning to see to the proper burial of the body of Jesus. They were prepared to deal with a dead body, not a corpse that had somehow escaped the tomb.
Mark says the women fled in terror – and we can understand their fear. It was a basic human reaction.
The reality of their reaction points to the truth of the biblical narrative.
Separated by 2,000 years, we can cry out: “He’s alive!” with joy, not terror, in our hearts.
Jesus spent 40 days giving His disciples many convincing truths that He was alive before He ascended to heaven.
As Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 15, everything in our faith hangs on the certainty of the Resurrection. And every detail of the narrative – even terror – points to the truth.
He’s alive! Jesus is alive!
Pray: Dear Lord, with thankful hearts we rejoice in the bedrock certainty of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior. Thank you for the blessed hope – that Jesus will return with salvation for those who are waiting for Him. Praise be to your Name! Amen.
Do: During the Easter season, pray for the opportunity to share the good news that Jesus is alive
