God Given Potential

When we say, "your God given potential" in any communication. We are putting parameters on the statement. We have punted to God and that is a good thing. We mean well, when we tell our children that they can do and become whatever their heart's desire. However, that statement is not true, and it can be even dangerous. Since God tells us in the book of Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?" (ESV)

So, when we use the phrase "your God give potential". We are giving the key to God and allowing him to dictate our potential. God has truly given us great potential. Let me discuss a few. I would like to list a few with scripture references.

Potential for Wisdom

Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever! (ESV)

Potential for Forgiveness

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (ESV)

Potential for Eternal Life with God

John 3:16 "For God so love the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (ESV)

Our God given potential is amazing. Scripture tells us we have the potential to be looked upon by God, to be favored by God, to be comforted and filled by God the Holy Spirit. We have the God given potential to walk in the fruit of the Spirit-Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control.

The good news is there is God given potential for you. Without Jesus paying the price for our sins, we would have no God given potential. We would be left with our sinful choices only. We would be left with only the potential to determine our level of punishment in hell.

Without Jesus there would be no way to fulfill our God given potential. Good News! You don't have to keep the ball and lose the game. YOU CAN PUNT!

Ephesians 2:1-10 1. And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (ESV)

Read Psalm 139:1-18 and you will see that God has a plan for your life and that he formed you in your mother's womb. You will read how he thinks more thoughts about you than the grains of sand! God has his plans for us and the gift of eternal life. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of our sin is death, but God's gift is eternal life! Now that is God given potential!

Last evening, I listened to the State of the Union address by President Biden. He used the phrase "your God given potential" The phrase was used while addressing the LGBQ "community". However, we are individuals before we are a community. Man and Woman were created by God on the sixth day. Adam and Eve were the first and we all came from them. We are all one blood! God created us special and perfect. When Adam sinned death came to us. This devastated our potential, but then Jesus the Son of God came to earth born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross, rose alive on the third day. We now have the potential to be free from our sin. The first Adam brought death but the second Adam (Jesus) brought life.

There are somethings we have no potential to change. You see God is good and he knows best. God did something beautiful when he created human life. Life begins at conception. God created men and women unique and created marriage between one man and one woman. His plan always was, is, and will always be that way. No man or women can change that. Not the black robed Preacher or Supreme Court Judge. The King of kings and LORD of lords says so!

My great desire with this letter is to encourage our boys and girls, and young men and women. Understand this, there is much we could debate about the President's speech last evening. We could debate policy decisions such as taxes or Ukraine. I do believe God's word gives principles for those issues as well. This is God's world and he wants us to know when to fight and when to sanction. God wants to help us know when to tax and when to let people keep the money God has blessed them with. The men and women that serve us need our prayers and they need God’s wisdom. If we think we can stand without the hand of God holding us up. We will fall!

Let me be very clear there were some things in the speech that was clearly doctrines of Satan himself and the other Demons.

  1. No one is allowed to take a life. No man or women have the right to choose when to murder their baby! Not on day 0 (Conception), or day 1, or day 2, or day 3 .......
  2. While not addressed in the President's speech. No one has the right to take their own life. No matter how bad our health gets. We should never take what God gives! Death is an enemy. God never wanted death. Sin brought death and Jesus has defeated the last enemy which is death. One day death will be completely destroyed.
  3. Another doctrine of Satan and Demons is that a man can marry a man and a woman can marry a woman. Never possible, God sets the rules. He creates everything beautiful. Some may say my parent's marriage was horrible. Well, one or both was not living as God desires, but that does not change the perfect plan of God.
  4. A boy is a boy and a girl is a girl. We have been diluted by Satan, if we think otherwise. The adults promoting this to our children will have great judgement in hell. We must remember, it is hard to swim with a "refrigerator" hung around your neck!

Good news, God is greater than Satan. If you want to fulfill your God given potential, you can! God is a faithful Father and he wants you to know his love. You can trust him!

The potential is there because of Jesus. Surrender to him today!

Romans 10:9,10 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (ESV)

Sincerely,

Randy Fisher
